Kwame Nkrumah - The Genius of African Revolution

Kwame Nkrumah legacy till date is hard to equal.

The historical significance of Nkrumah lies in the fact that he established an African presence in the Global community. Before the arrival of Nkrumah in the African scene in 1948, the continent was a stable base of exploitation by the big powers of western Europe and north America.  The highest achievement of the African, on the world political hemisphere, was to loiter around the hallway of power as a requester, or a backroom staff. With Nkrumah, the African burst into this arena and took his right seat on the table. By doing this, Kwame Nkrumah was named the genius of African revolution.

 

His dedication to serving Africa made him enemies with those peoples whose main interest his doctrines and performances endangered or even destroyed. On the other hand, this also meant, he made many friends with those whose lives have been transformed for the better as a result of ideas and character.

 

Kwame Nkrumah became a universal icon of freedom as the leader of the first African country to cast off the shackles of colonial rule. He was a teacher by 15yrs of age, studied at Lincoln University, PA, USA, post-graduate in London, returned to Gold Coast, fought for independence from the British and built what we now know as Ghana.
